Frequently Asked Questions
What gear does my wrestler need?
All wrestlers need wrestling shoes and headgear. The program provides a competition singlet. Practice gear (shorts, t-shirt) is also required.
Wrestling shoes are different than sneakers. Wrestling shoes may NOT be worn outside of the wrestling room.
When do practices start?
Youth practices typically begin in mid-November. Junior High and High School practices start as per PIAA guidelines (usually the week before Thanksgiving). Please contact your coach for exact dates.
Are parents allowed at practice?
For the Youth program, parents are welcome to stay in the hallway and watch. Unfortunately, the hallway area is very small and you may not actually get to watch your wrestler. We will have parent night soon, where parents can come into the wrestling mat area and watch practice. For Junior High and High School, practices are typically closed to ensure wrestlers can focus without distraction, but check with your level’s head coach for their specific policy.
Where are youth practices held?
Youth practices are held inside the wrestling room at the middle school/intermediate school. If you turn into the middle school campus from S. Academy Dr., you will see the “bus loop” you can turn into on the right hand side. The very first door is the door you can enter through. If the doors are locked, please knock and someone should be there shortly to open it for you!
